My Garden

I love gardening—not as much as I love dogs, of course. But most of my free time is spent in my garden: designing and redesigning it, watering (a lot), potting plants, moving some of those when the season changes, pruning, raking (also a lot), and more.

Also, no matter where I’ve lived, I’ve always had as many indoor plants and trees as possible—if at times I couldn’t live in nature, I’ve brought nature inside. Even into a city apartment.

Now I live in a beautiful country setting on almost an acre of land filled with hundreds of trees and, yes, thousands of plants. As much as possible, I’ve tried to emulate the look of an English cottage garden, my favorite. For the past twenty years or so, I’ve been caring for every tree and plant here.

Here are some pictures of my garden world:

My garden is slow work, pursued by love.”
