Thanks for visiting my website! I’m a psychotherapist in private practice for over 30 years. I consider this work my calling. But mostly this website is about my dogs. Dogs are my passion! I also love to garden, and you’ll find some of that here, too.

I’ve had a lifelong love affair with dogs. I love them all! And I’ve lived with them most of my life. Right now, I live with two
Golden Retrievers: Oliver and Henry. Utter chaos! But I wouldn’t have it any other way. Dogs are magic! And the best beings on the planet. Period! I’m also the author of two books, both about my dogs.

I’ve just published my second book, Happy Harry: A Magical Golden. Harry’s story is about a Golden Retriever who’s the happiest being I’ve ever known. It’s about how he prances through life, with an attitude any one of us would be fortunate to have, facing life head-on with his wonderful, very happy spirit. Harry faces some pretty hard knocks in his life, but he responds to them like gnats going by. I’ve never seen anything like it. Happy Harry is unforgettable.

Thanks for sharing this beautiful book!  Your love for Harry was so infectious:  I fell in love with him as well.  It is impossible not to share your enthusiasm and your delight in this wolf prince.  Nobody who loves dogs will be able to resist your book! A magnificent love story!"

Everyone loves Golden Retrievers, or at least they should. But what sets Barbara Lampert apart is not just that she is over-the-top crazy about Goldens, but that she writes so beautifully about them. 'Happy Harry: A Magical Golden' is a wonderful love letter to the greatest creatures on the planet."

This personal telling of Harry the Golden Retriever’s life brims with contagious, unfettered joy   — a perfect reflection of his well-lived, well-loved life, a shining exemplar of the canine-human bond, the most remarkable interspecies relationship on the planet.”
         — Nick Jans, author of  the New York Times bestseller "A Wolf Called Romeo"

About eleven years ago, I authored my first book, Charlie: A Love Story, another dog memoir, about another one of my Golden Retrievers. It emerged from a gardening journal I'd been keeping, but when Charlie began having some health problems, it quickly became mostly about him. It tells of the beautiful love between us, providing an intimate look at the bond between a canine and a human. Charlie was my loyal confidante and best friend. Charlie: A Love Story contains many implicit messages about how to live a good life, have a great relationship, and care for another being. But mostly it’s about an indomitable dog and our extraordinary relationship.

I also love gardening. Most of my free time is spent in the garden—landscaping, potting and planting, watering, pruning, raking, weeding, and more. Work in the garden is never finished. And that’s a good thing!

I hope you enjoy your visit to my website! And if you would like to contact me, please do so at I would love to hear from you!

My best to you,
